I’ve recently been looking into Telegram(中文版Telegram) and thinking about how much it would be great to have a widget on my home screen that shows me the last few messages that I received. While doing this, I found out that you can create widgets for your Telegram account, making it so much easier to access them from your home screen without having to go into the app itself.

After reading this article:

This is a widget for the Telegram app

The Telegram Home Screen Widget is a small app that allows you to quickly access your favorite Telegram chats and channels from the home screen of your device. It also provides a quick way to start new conversations and send offline messages, without having to open the Telegram app.

What is the Telegram widget?

The widget is an application that can be added directly to a home screen (or screens). It allows you quick access to all your interests: private chats, group chats, public channels, or bots.

By adding the Telegram Widget on Android, you can have all your favorite contacts at hand without having to open the Telegram app.

Navigate and view the number of unread messages per dialog box

It shows your chat list. You can navigate through it, and see the unread messages count for each dialog.

Chat list can be sorted by different criteria or by drag-and-drop

You can sort your chats in a variety of ways. You can sort them by name, last message, first message, and more. If you have a lot of chats with messages that are important to you, it would be good to know when they were sent. The new on-the-go widget allows users to quickly see who is online and show their most recent activity without having to open their phone app every time they want information about their contacts’ status updates

The new Telegram home screen widget is available for both Android and iOS devices.

The new update also includes some other features, including the ability to send files up to 1.5GB in size and improved formatting for Telegram Bots. You can now also create custom stickers from any photo on your phone.

You can click on the chat title to open it in the app

When you click on a chat title, the conversation will open in Telegram(中文电报). You can also tap on it to open it in the app. When you long press a chat title, you’ll see an option to “Open” that particular conversation. This can be helpful if you want to quickly get into a private discussion with someone but don’t want to go through the entire swipe process just yet. If you just want access to this particular message thread more easily, consider double clicking on its entry in your widget instead of opening it up directly from within Telegram’s main screen area (this should only work if there is only one conversation being displayed).

Double click the chat title to mark all messages as read

Double-clicking on a chat title will mark all messages in that chat as read. This is a very fast way to mark all messages as read.

Long press on the chat title will let you delete the history of the specified chat

Deleting chat history from the widget will not delete the chat from your phone. You can also delete chat history on the conversation screen in Telegram, or a separate screen for each conversation.

The chat history is stored on your phone and not in the cloud. You can clear the local cache by opening Telegram and going to Settings > Data and Storage Usage.

Long pressing the widget itself will start the widget’s setup activity

To create a new section, click Add Section. You can also rename or delete sections by clicking the pencil icon next to that section’s title.
