As long as an open collar can be replaced for a dress shirt and tie, the polo shirt may be worn in practically any setting where an open collar is acceptable. Polo shirts have become the chosen shirt for uniforms in a wide range of settings, including classic polo fields, tennis courts, country clubs, and workplaces. Polo t-shirts seem to be everywhere, and they don’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.

what to do and what not

For men, polo t-shirts go with anything, from a fitted jacket to a pair of ripped denim jeans. They wear them to football games, the office, and everywhere else. It’s no secret that James Bond-like Sunspel polo tees go with his Rolex Submariner, and Omega Seamaster watches.

Although the shirt is used in various ways, a few principles will keep you appearing polished rather than unkempt.

Polo Shirts Should Not Be Layered

There should be no place for an additional shirt to have a correctly fitted polo shirt. To keep your shirt in place, you should avoid wearing an undershirt. Long or short sleeve undershirts should never be worn with a polo shirt because they aren’t meant to be worn under them.

Get the right size

Increase your shirt size if you can’t get your bicep and sleeve to meet. When in doubt, go for the smallest possible size. Cotton is a common fabric used to make high-quality polo t-shirts. As a result, they should be comfortable to wear and not reveal too much skin.

Size Them Accordingly to Your Height.

Untucked polo shirt tails should not hang over the middle of your buttocks. Untucked, it will not only crumple but also throw off your proportions. If you wear your polo shirt untucked, stay away from tennis tails (a longer back hem).

Avoid popping one’s collar.

The collar-popping craze is long gone, and it will not return. As a result, you won’t even need to apply sunscreen on your neck. It’s like wearing sunglasses at night when you raise your collar. It’s only appropriate for the bar crowd and trendy youngsters.

Avoid wearing logos that are too big.

Large, gigantic logos have recently become a popular style on polo shirts. In the beginning, it was Ralph Lauren, and now it has various labels. The standard for polo shirts is to have a little logo on the breast, which goes against the designer’s usual advice of not having any visible logos. It is better to have logos that blend in with the yarn than to stand out. Oversized logos, on the other hand, are terrible. Don’t wear one as part of your professional attire, don’t bother with the logos.

Do not wear a Blazer over your Polo shirt.

Even though the soft collar doesn’t lay flat, some guys think they look sophisticated in a polo shirt and jacket. A dress shirt and jacket go together like night and day, no matter the occasion. If you want to avoid the polo, go straight for the dress shirt.

Don’t Forget to Tuck Your Polo When the Occasion Demands It!

It’s not a good idea to make it impossible to wear your polo shirt with or without a tuck in the collar. Instead, it’s about how you’re dressed and the situation. If you have a pair of seersucker chinos or madras shorts, you should avoid tucking in the shorts.
